For the first time: ITIL 4 with Barclay Rae, ITIL Lead Author Team Member

ITIL® (IT Infrastructure Library®) is a library of volumes describing a framework of best practices for delivering IT services that businesses can implement and tailor to their special needs. ITIL’s success is based on the fact that it is vendor neutral, non-prescriptive, focuses on business benefits and is widespread. In addition to best practice ITIL framework also includes education and certification. This enables people to gain knowledge and develop experience, benefit from software endorsement schemes for service management tools and, most importantly, access the global community of consultants, practitioners, providers and trainers sharing experiences and ideas with each other, thus expanding and developing good practice. Community that made this possible is The IT Service Management Forum (itSMF International) with member companies all over the world including Slovenian chapter itSMF Slovenia.

Today we are at the verge of the new version ITIL 4, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2019. Expectations already provoke controversy and raise questions:

  • What does this bring to the industry?

  • How can ITIL re-invents itself to meet the new demands of Digital, AI, DevOps and new IT models?

  • How will new ideas be incorporated and implemented for organisations that have worked with ITIL for years?

  • What elements of the existing ITIL framework can still be used and developed?

Why is now the right time for the new ITIL version 4? Listen to one of the major ITIL 4 designers, Barclay Rae, last year re-named among 25 Thought Leaders in Technical Support and Service Management.

At the conference Together in Excellence 2019 for the first time in this region Barclay Rae will provide insights into the drivers and thinking behind ITIL4, plus guidance on how to use it for future success and improvement.
